今回のインタビュー相手は、関西在住の小学校4年生のキッズ大使のHarryくんです。（学年はインタビュー当時）日本文化が好きで、華道や茶道を習っているそう。Harryくんは、ハリーポッターの原書を読破し、3度スピーチコンテストで入賞経験があるそうです。英語の読み書きスピーキングがしっかりできる男の子です。おうちクルーズのEnglish classのレッスン開発に協力してもらっています。
おうちクルーズのEnglish Classは英語の習得を目的にしたレッスンではないため、英語の説明が理解できる前提で進行します。講師は日本語を話せるバイリンガル講師ですが、基本的には日本語での補足は行わない想定で募集をしています。
参加してくれたのは柊鰯スワッグのクラフトと恵方巻のクッキングをする２月の節分イベント。節分の恵方巻を食べる方角からコンパスを使って方角を調べたり、春節についての学びも取り入れた盛り沢山の２時間レッスンでした。

届いたキットはどうでしたか？
How was the craft kit?
たくさん使えるように少し多めに材料が入っていて、僕に合うものが見つかってよかったです。
The kit had more materials than I expected,so I’m glad that I was able to find the material I like.

How was the level of English in the lesson?
英語のレベルもよく、楽しい時間を過ごせました。
The level of English was good and I enjoyed the lesson.

料理についてはどうでしたか？
How was the cooking in the lesson?
作った料理がおいしくて、説明もわかりやすいので嬉しかったです。
It was good for me that the lesson had cooking time. First reason is that it was easy for some young children.For example, the size of the Ehomaki was small so that children could eat it in one bite. Second reason is that although most children don’t make Ehomaki much these days and it was a big challenge for us to cook, the explanations were very easy to understand and I enjoyed eating Ehomaki.For these two reasons, I think it was great that we had cooking time in the lesson.
読売KODOMO新聞の植野美枝子先生監修の恵方巻は、甘辛味の豚ロース、卵、レタスを酢飯にくるんでいただく子ども向けレシピです。自分で巻いた恵方巻の味は特別ですね！

日本文化についてはどうでしたか？
How was learning about Japanese culture in the lesson?
節分について学べて、僕が節分を好きな理由が理解できました。このレッスンでは日本文化について知ることができて、海外の人に日本文化を説明できるようになるので、とてもいいと思います。
I thought it was a good time for me to learn Japanese culture. For the first reason, I didn’t know about Setsubun, so I was happy that I was able to learn about it in the lesson. Because of the lesson, I like Japanese culture now. I thought that this lesson was an incredible idea.

サイエンスについてはどうでしたか？
How was the science topic studied in the lesson?
サイエンスについて詳しく知ることができました。今回は、方角について学びました。僕はコンパスを持っていませんでしたが、先生が見せてくれたので問題なく学ぶことができました。
I think that it was a good lesson to learn about science as well. First, we learned about the direction and the magnitude. I was worried about not having a compass at home, but, since the teachers showed me how to use it, I didn’t have to worry about it anymore.

How was the lesson overall?
節分について、初めて知ったことがたくさんありました。今年はまだ恵方巻きを食べていませんでしたが、レッスンのおかげで食べられました。クラフトタイムは最高でした。そして何よりクッキングの時間も楽しかったです！ 楽しい勉強の時間をありがとうございました。
I think it was a good time for me .First, I had so much fun during the craft making time. Fortunately, I also liked the cooking time.
Let me tell you about my experience as well. It was my first time learning about Setsubun. When I saw a demon running away from thrown beans in Kyoto, I remembered about the lesson and I was happy. Second, I realize that I didn’t eat Ehomaki this year but I ate it in the class so I was glad I did the lesson. And at last I taught what I learned to an American student. He thanked me so I felt like I am the best teacher ever. For these reasons, I was happy that I was able to learn about Japanese culture in the lesson.
